Welcome Kate!

There’s lots of new things happening at Space to Sew this Autumn, including the launching of the new website but, if I were to pick one unifying theme, it would have to be "Tutors!"

In addition to the wonderful Liz, Janet and Sue, our in-house Team is soon to be joined by the lovely Kate Millbank, who will be taking over our evening Club sessions in October. And, what's more, October seems to have turned into ‘Guest Tutor Month’! We are delighted that Janice Croft, Pam Neave and Michelle Pye have accepted to teach at Space to Sew. We'll be concentrating a bit more on them in future blog posts so watch this space for more information about our visiting tutors and their classes. For now, back to Kate...

As you will read more fully in the Tutors section, Kate has a strong background in Couture Dressmaking and Fashion Design, as well as a keen interest in sustainable fashion and textiles. We are sure that her warm and engaging personality will prove as popular as her expertise and look forward to having her on board.

Just out of interest, we thought we'd ask Kate why she wanted to teach at Space to Sew and, in particular, why she signed up to teach Club sessions which, I have to add, are not every Tutor's cup of tea due to the breadth of expertise required. Here's what she said:

"When I saw Space to Sew establish itself in Shrewsbury I knew instantly that I wanted to get involved. I find the concept of the Club sessions particularly exciting and love the challenge of helping clients work on the range of projects that they bring to the sessions. It is also really rewarding to watch their sewing skills and confidence grow from week to week. There is never a dull moment and the sessions are incredibly inspiring....and sociable!"

Well Club sessions are certainly sociable and a great place to make new friends. But don't be deceived by Kate's comments: our tutors do also make us work quite hard and everyone other than me (yes, I know the famous cape is not quite finished!) seem to get quite a lot done!

If you want to know more about our Club sessions and whether it is the best way for you to learn, visit our Club page, give us a call or drop in and see how it works for yourself.

In the meantime, on behalf of the Space to Sew team and our regulars: Welcome Kate! See you in class very soon...
