"Dress a Girl" live on BBC Radio Shropshire!
Imagine our surprise when local radio presenter Vicki Archer approached us to put "Dress a Girl" on air - literally (gulp!). Though we no longer quite believe that she hasn't used a sewing machine before, Liz Gurney and I watched & listened with bated breath as Vicki proceeded to sew, live, on air, a dress out of a pillowcase for a little girl in Uganda whom she has never met. She was of course supported in her progress by co-presenter Adam Green who kept up the momentum while she sewed away (amazingly he didn't seem phased by the machine whirring in the background for much of the show!) .
Not content with sewing and presenting, Vicki provided photos of her progress to her Twitter followers a step at a time (more photos coming soon!) - & even modelled the dress when she finished (how many adults can boast that they fit into a pillowcase dress?!)
Thank you Vicki, for your support of Dress a Girl, for the dress itself and for a fantastic radio experience! It really was an afternoon to remember!
